Arrested in Sassari on charges of murder . The arrest was carried out by the State Police, who recently stopped a Pakistani citizen on Via Tavolara, in the city center , with an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol for the crime of murder committed in his home country.
It was officers from the Flying Squad who, during a series of checks on a group of foreign citizens, identified the man and took him to the police station where he underwent photodactyloscopic tests that confirmed his identity.
Under the coordination of the Flying Squad leader, Virginia Martinazzi, the procedure set forth in Articles 715 and 716 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, regarding provisional arrest for extradition purposes, has been activated. Discussions have therefore begun with the Court of Appeal of Cagliari – Sassari Branch – and with the Ministry of Justice, the competent authority for the subsequent management of the extradition proceedings.
After an initial prison stay in Bancali, the non-EU citizen was then taken to a validation hearing where the investigating judge ordered him to report to the judicial police.
