"We'll spit on you and infect you with Covid." This was the threat uttered by three people in Sassari in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, against a family who, at the time, ran a business in the historic center.
"I'll throw a Molotov cocktail at you and you'll blow up," "I'll burn you and your mother," were the other threats directed at the injured parties following an altercation that began over trivial matters and quickly escalated. According to the charges, the three defendants kicked, punched, and, indeed, spat at the shopkeepers.
Charged with threats and assault, the three men went to trial, ultimately leaving two men in the case for the death of the younger man. This, according to defense lawyers Marco Manca and Nicola Ribichesu, should have removed the aggravating circumstance of the crime being committed "as a group." Today in court in Sassari, a 48-year-old and a 45-year-old man from Sassari were sentenced to five months by Judge Elena Barmina. The prosecutor was Antonio Piras.
