Games and gifts were delivered in Sassari to the children hospitalized in the Pediatrics ward of the University Hospital. Yesterday, officers from the police headquarters and the highway patrol offered a moment of peace to the children, continuing the journey of support and solidarity begun during the Christmas holidays. Present for the gift delivery were Giampiero Capobianco, director of the Department of Women and Children's Health and Protection at the University Hospital, Lucia Anna Mameli, the head of the Sassari Highway Patrol, Inti Piras, the doctor from the Sassari Police Headquarters, Gesuino Angius, along with healthcare workers, teachers from the hospital school, and other representatives of the State Police.

"These moments are incredibly valuable for the hospitalized children and their families," says Giampiero Capobianco, "because they help make the hospital a more welcoming and humane place. The support shown by the State Police is an important sign of care for the young patients and for the daily work of healthcare workers." Toys, books, puzzles, board games, building blocks, cars, and scooters were collected thanks to the officers' spontaneous donations and distributed to the children who left their hospital rooms for the library, which was transformed into a festive space for the occasion.

"We wanted to bring a smile to the hospitalized children," emphasize Inti Piras and Gesuino Angius, "through small gestures born spontaneously from the generosity of the police officers. Not just during Christmas, but throughout the year, we want to be close to the citizens, even in delicate moments like those experienced by the young patients and their families." "Caring also involves the ability to build relationships, closeness, and empathy," explains Health Director Lucia Anna Mameli. "Initiatives like this help children face their hospitalization with greater serenity and demonstrate a wonderful synergy between institutions serving the community."
