The local police force's Operation Transparency will resume in Sassari on Monday, October 19th. The name comes from the advance announcement of the streets where officers will be stationed, with the hope that it will act as a deterrent and encourage drivers to exercise greater caution, thus reducing accidents.

The checks, which will also be extended to evening and nighttime hours, will monitor speed limit compliance along certain lanes identified as being at higher risk. A laser scanner will be used to immediately detect any violations, allowing speeding violators to be apprehended on both urban and rural roads. The accident figures for 2026 mirror those for 2025, but, unfortunately, the statistics have soared in recent days, with three deaths in fifteen days.

Command officers, equipped with laser guns, will be on Via Predda Niedda, Via Rockefeller, Via Buddi Buddi, Via Budapest; Via Milano, Viale Porto Torres; Via Don Sturzo; Via Prati; Via Piredda, former SS 131, Ottava, SS 200 (Sassari-Sorso), Via Domenico Millelire, Via De Martini, SP 18 Bancali, Palmadula – SP 4 SP 18, Via Buddi Buddi, SP 42 Campanedda. To date, the Command has recorded 887 accidents, 322 of which resulted in injuries; 61 people were hit. The local police's Operation Transparency, which is engaged in various awareness-raising activities on the issue, will continue until November 30th.
