Plastic Free Sassari performed a grand cleanup last Friday, July 24, in Platamona, despite temperatures exceeding 40 degrees.
The nine participants, including a volunteer from Olbia, gathered at the Rotonda beach in Sassari to clear the shoreline and roadside of a large amount of litter. The activity, coordinated by Serena Solinas, Plastic Free Sassari coordinator, along with coordinators Roberto Manca from Sassari and Maria Grazia Pisanu from Sorso, resulted in the recovery of four plastic bags and cans, eight bags of unsorted waste, three bags of glass, one paper bag, one metal bag, two beach umbrellas, and a large hard plastic bag, in addition to the usual mass of cigarette butts.
On this occasion, the volunteers had the opportunity to engage with beachgoers, who requested information about participating in upcoming initiatives. Pierluigi Salis, Councilor for the Environment and Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Sassari, was also present. The volunteers discussed the critical issues facing the area and the importance of maintaining a high level of attention to the cleanliness of the coastline.
