Almost one million counterfeit products - 925,272 - seized in the province of Sassari . The data was released by the provincial commander of the Guardia di Finanza of Sassari, Colonel Marco Sebastiani , who took over the leadership of the Corps in recent months.

"The phenomenon - explains the officer - has involved various ethnic groups, in particular Chinese and Senegalese. The counterfeit goods range from clothing to costume jewelry to smoking items to cosmetics ". Precisely on this last aspect the financial police made an important seizure last week in Sassari, about 2 thousand pieces that contained Lilial, a toxic substance banned by the European community from 2022.

"On these articles - adds the commander - there has been a worrying increase in recent times". The leading unit of the investigation in the Guardia di Finanza, the economic-financial one, "is able to go beyond the single seizure, reaching the suppliers of the fake goods who, sometimes, are located in countries outside Europe".

"However, we see the phenomenon in its transversal dimension - concludes Colonel Marco Sebastian - and therefore connected with tax evasion, the exploitation of illegal work, the facilitation of illegal immigration up to the aspect of money laundering and reinvestment of the proceeds".
