With the completion of the Rio Mannu viaduct, 13 years after the start of work, the entire Olbia Sassari route is passable. This morning the section of Lot 4 was opened, in the territory of Berchidda and Oschiri. The general director of Anas, Aldo Isi: «It is a strategic connection and today we are proudly inaugurating the 80 km of double lane».
Anas has 700 million available from the Government for maintenance and 4 billion for new works in Sardinia. The Councilor for Public Works Antonio Piu: «With Anas we have set up a table with common objectives and today is a day to mark on the calendar. We are talking about a connection that starts from Alghero and arrives in Olbia. This way of working must be an example. We will have a work cabin in the Region that will reduce bureaucratic delays. The infrastructure gap in Sardinia is high, but it can be reduced if all our arteries are made like the Sassari Olbia. Today is the end of a project but it is also a beginning for future works».
For the government, there was Undersecretary Alessandro Morelli who declared: «This work is a great example. The process began in 2001. Many forces in the field have contributed over the years to making this infrastructure possible. Let's leave ideologies aside and look at the result».
Also present was MP Mauro Rotelli, president of the Environment, Territory and Public Works Commission of the Chamber: « A fundamental and strategic infrastructure for the entire northern quadrant of the island – he said – which will reduce travel times and guarantee greater road safety . Today's ceremony is awaited for too many years. Infrastructures have no political color, the only thing that matters is to build them on time. Now the goal is to deliver the last stretch that connects Sassari to Alghero, so that the two airports in the north of the island are also connected with a four-lane road ».
