Five and a half million euros. This is the amount set aside by Sassari's Budget Department in anticipation of the likely failure to complete four of the 42 projects funded with approximately €68 million by the city's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). Councilor Giuseppe Masala explained this recently in the second committee, noting that, should the targets be missed, the regulations stipulate a refund of the amount already spent. According to the council member, it is impossible for the work on the office buildings on Via Zara to be completed by the June 30th deadline of this year, the final deadline of the Plan, just as the safety work on the Bunnari Bassa Dam will not be completed.

A glimmer of hope remains for the sports hall on Via Kennedy, which, though by a hair's breadth, could reach the finish line on time. The difficulties with Next Generation EU funding, shared with the rest of Italy and Europe, could be resolved if Brussels were to grant a six-month or one-year extension. But for now, this opportunity is just a rumor, as intangible as the possibility that some construction projects, begun with ministerial and regional funds and later incorporated into the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), could be scrapped from the final phase. To cover any eventuality, the administration has set aside the amount spent, recovered from the free surplus in the active budget. The works will be completed in any case, provided other sources of financing are found, according to the assurance.
