In June 2024, a 49-year-old man died after falling from his motorcycle in the Sassari suburb of Bancali. Today in court in Sassari, the 44-year-old woman accused of vehicular homicide was acquitted by preliminary hearing judge Gian Paolo Piana, because the act did not constitute a crime.
Two years ago, the man was crossing a small bridge on the “Lu Saltu di la Monza” local road and, as soon as he crossed it, he found himself faced with the woman's car, ending up violently on the ground and losing his life .
According to the defense, represented by attorneys Martina Salaris and Salvatore Salaris, the car was stationary and therefore the charge of failure to give way was not established. Public prosecutor Gianni Caria had also urged the defendant's acquittal during the hearing.
