A complex neighborhood. In Sassari, Monte Rosello is one of the city's most populous areas, grappling with several growing problems. These were highlighted yesterday during a meeting organized by the neighborhood committee and its president, Gianmario Chelo. The meeting was attended by Rossana Serratrice, Democratic Party group leader in the city council, and Roberto Cadeddu, who represents the Brothers of Italy in the council chamber, and Luca Babudieri, the party's city coordinator.
The first critical issue is vandalism . "They set off fireworks and firecrackers at night that look like bombs, scaring everyone, especially the elderly," residents report. Boxes containing the remains of the "rockets" have been lying on the steps of the school in Piazza Sacro Cuore every weekend for some time, without even the excuse of Christmas.
Another concern is the phenomenon of cars being set on fire , around ten in a few months. "The fires often happen in front of dumpsters where signs warn of cameras," residents point out. "So we wonder why they're not being caught."
Serratrice's proposal is to participate in the Municipality's video surveillance tender and install cameras that could act as a deterrent against this behavior. There is also talk of rudeness, prevalent throughout the neighborhoods, among individuals and those with disabilities. They are calling for measures to address this incivility, as well as for tree care. The roots of the hackberry tree on Via Tintoretto, for example, have raised the sidewalk and the road, making it very dangerous to walk on. These are all issues for which the authorities are awaiting responses.
