A man was arrested in Sassari in flagrante delicto because he was held responsible for the crimes of impersonation and aggravated fraud against an elderly person .

The Carabinieri arrested the suspect last Thursday after receiving a report from the victim, who was distraught over a series of scams allegedly conducted by the suspect between June 2021 and May 2026. The suspect allegedly tricked the suspect into paying a total of €200,000 in cash or via bank transfers to a bank account held by a relative of the suspect.

The military intervened and stopped the scammer after yet another delivery of money (250 euros).

At the arrested man's home, the Carabinieri then found and seized several postal cards to which the victim had allegedly addressed numerous payments.

The suspect was then taken to Bancali prison . During the validation hearing, the judge then ordered the man to sign in.
