One year and four months in prison for mistreatment and assault. Today in court, Judge Valentina Nuvoli sentenced a 47-year-old man from Sassari, accused of numerous violent acts against his ex-partner over a period of seven months in 2017. These included beatings with a stick, slaps, neck clenching, and death threats, amidst a climate of alcohol and drug abuse.
Numerous incidents of assault were reported in court, often resulting in law enforcement intervention and the woman being taken to the emergency room for her injuries. It was a nightmare for the 56-year-old, who was also charged with providing false statements to the prosecutor regarding what happened with the man.
The plaintiff's lawyer, Claudio Mastandrea, explained his behavior by fearing the reactions of his ex-partner, represented by Alessandra Rosa. The judge also awarded the injured party €3,000 in damages. The prosecutor, Ermanno Cattaneo, had requested a sentence of 2 years and 6 months during the hearing.
