Sassari's extensive Christmas program was presented at Palazzo Ducale, in the presence of Mayor Giuseppe Mascia, Councilor for Culture Nicoletta Puggioni, Councilor for Productive Activities Lello Panu, representatives of the municipal structure and event organizers.
The "Destination Christmas" program, which began on December 1st and runs until January 6th, aims to transform the city into a tourist destination through culture and art, continuing the initiatives that liven up Sassari throughout the year.
There are 145 distinct initiatives, with an average of six events per day, doubled in the days leading up to December 25th. "We did well last year," Mayor Mascia stated, "but we need to improve. What we're doing now represents the minimum threshold for this city."
Among the initiatives, 40 musical events stand out, as described by Councilor Puggioni, culminating in Max Pezzali's New Year's Eve concert in Piazzale Segni, accompanied by opera, jazz, pop, gospel, and other performances. Thirty theater events, 20 dance performances, and nine art exhibitions are also planned.
The events will take place in 30 locations, from markets and rides to Santa's Village, with events in the historic center—Piazza Fiume, Piazza Italia, the Castle, the Astra Cinema Theater, the Tavolara Pavilion, and the Library—as well as on the outskirts, in Latte Dolce, Li Punti, and Monte Rosello, among others.
Seventy organizers are involved, while the Region's financial support is significant, with one million euros earmarked for New Year's Eve. "The accommodations," Panu informs, speaking of the concert, "are already full."
“We've made a significant investment,” Puggioni concludes, “and we hope the city, and beyond, will respond enthusiastically.”
