Sassari ranks third in Italy for organ donation . This is one of the data that emerged yesterday at Palazzo Ducale , in the first council commission chaired by Stefano Manai, with the hearing of Dr. Paola Murgia, local representative of the Transplant Center for the AOU, of Dr. Chiara Favini and Michele Podda and held in the presence of councilor Patrizia Mercuri.

According to the Donation Index 2024, the capital of Turritano has achieved an excellent result: 79.7% of citizens have agreed to the donation.

In fact, there are 96,310 yes votes in Sassari, a figure higher than all the other Sardinian cities, including Cagliari, which has more than 86,000 signatures . However, there is still 20% of people who refuse to donate, also because, sometimes, they do not have the essential information.

In this sense, the Municipality could, together with other institutions, as emerged from the session, promote permanent information campaigns, collaborations with schools to educate young people about donation, offer citizens open events with the direct involvement of the Transplant Center and experts.
