The woman's complaint led to the trial, which ended in court in Sassari with the accused being sentenced to 6 months in prison. Another charge was also pending against the man, that of causing alarm, because, as stated in the indictment, "by announcing accidents and non-existent dangers he aroused alarm among the authorities". In particular, on one occasion, he had called the police asking for intervention because his neighbor, according to him, was about to commit suicide. Completely false communication to be framed, as his defender, the lawyer Marco Manca, said during the discussion, in a form of defense against the voodoo rites that his client imagined practiced by the offended party and which he believed to be the source of his problems. The same lawyer raised the problem of partial mental defect for his client.
