Three years and 8 months of imprisonment for a disfigurement. Yesterday before the preliminary hearing judge Giuseppe Grotteria, in court in Sassari, the prosecutor Maria Paola Asara requested this sentence for a 28-year-old from Alghero accused of injuries and deformation of the person's appearance through permanent injuries to the face.

The crime occurred in a bar in Villanova Monteleone in 2022 when the accused entered the establishment, according to the indictment "with arrogant and insulting tones against the security staff". At the time there were still restrictions on entry to the premises due to Covid, but the man did not take them into account, urging, as the prosecution specifies, his friends to enter. When the staff intervened, the 28-year-old reacted violently by throwing a beer bottle at one of them, causing a wound under the eye of a few centimeters.

Hence the complaint and the trial that is taking place with the abbreviated procedure conditioned to the presence of the injured party. In yesterday's discussion, the prosecutor posed to the judge the problem of the severity of the penalty provided by the legislator and which would seem excessive in this case. For the civil party lawyer Francesco Porcu , the injury caused by the glass is permanent and its evidence is indisputable and, for these reasons, he has requested the conviction and compensation for damages for tens of thousands of euros. Also the defense lawyer Elias Vacca poses the same problem of constitutionality raised by the magistrate. The preliminary hearing judge adjourned to February to resolve the issue and for replies.
