Over the weekend, the Sassari local police intensified coastal patrols as part of the "Safe Coasts" operation, aimed at ensuring safety and environmental protection. Approximately 32 officers patrolled the areas of Fiume Santo, Porto Ferro, Ezzi Mannu, Argentiera, Porto Palmas, and Platamona, issuing over one hundred fines for various violations.

Among the most frequent violations are cars parked in protected areas, such as the banks of the Pilo pond in Fiume Santo, recognized as a special area of conservation by the European Union, and in spaces reserved for people with disabilities, especially at the Platamona roundabout. In Porto Palmas, a family caught camping illegally on a scenic ridge was fined , while in Ezzi Mannu, a camper completely blocked the road, also impeding the passage of emergency vehicles.

The situation in Porto Ferro was particularly worrying, where numerous cars were parked in the pine forest despite a clearly marked prohibition : the presence of vehicles in a protected woodland area posed a serious risk of fires, which could have devastated the Mediterranean scrub.

Monitoring activities will continue with even greater vigor tomorrow, Tuesday 12 August, with the use of drones to monitor the protected area of Porto Ferro and Lake Baratz .

The goal is to prevent and discourage dangerous behaviors such as illegal camping, indiscriminate parking of vehicles in wooded areas and dunes, lighting fires, and littering. These actions not only jeopardize human safety, but also the protection of local flora and fauna, some of which are particularly vulnerable.
