A home for each Guild in Sassari. This is one of the new features approaching the city's identity-defining celebration, the Faradda on August 14th, a celebration presented this morning at the Town Hall. This unusual choice, however, reflects the value of the location in front of which, on the very day of the Discesa dei Candelieri, the various Guilds receive greetings from the civic authorities and where the customary "A zent'anni" toast takes place. For the mayor of Sassari, Giuseppe Mascia, assigning the Guilds' homes will lead to another objective. "We will be able to define a map and a cultural architecture with which to carry out activities for the historic center," he states. This involves the Guild community through two main approaches. "The first is to enliven the historic center, revitalizing streets, alleys, open spaces, and squares that are currently lifeless and unfrequented precisely because they lack a specific function," he explains. "The second is to ensure that this community resonates with an increasingly larger portion of the population through a process of identification that extends beyond the days of the Faradda and the days preceding it." Attending the press conference were representatives of the various sectors of the municipal administration, who are working tirelessly to make the Festha Manna possible, and several members of the municipal council, including Nicoletta Puggioni, Councilor for Culture, and Lello Panu, Head of Productive Activities. Puggioni recalled the now classic accompanying initiatives of the Faradda, from the Piccoli Candelieri on August 5th to the Le Vie dei Gremi event on the 6th, with the opening of the historic venues, the Concerto dei Candelieri on the 11th, and the awarding of the special Candeliere d'Oro and Nostalgia Prizes on the 12th. On the 4th, the preparation of the Piccoli Candelieri will take place in Piazza Santa Caterina, an event organized with the natural shopping centers "Stelle del Centro" and "InCentru," while on August 10th the Candelieri Medi will parade. No Faradda would be possible without the participation of the diocese, currently represented by Archbishop Francesco Antonio Soddu, in his first year in his new role, and the Father Guardian of the Church of Santa Maria di Betlem, Salvatore Sanna, who on the night of August 14th welcomed the Gremi for the fulfillment of the Vote. Among the speakers were Giovanni Conoci, the Chamber of Commerce representative, and Fabio Madau, the president of the Intergremio. "The guilds today have a great awareness," Madau remarked, and, returning to the headquarters, emphasized that having them "represents an act of great dignity."
