Forty-four witnesses, including the former mayor, Ninni Campus. The list presented by the defense attorneys this morning in court in Sassari is extensive, at the opening of the trial for the 22 people who died, due to Covid, at Casa Serena between March and April 2020.

Lawyers Marco Manca and Liliana Pintus are assisting Francesca Chessa and Marco Sannio, who at the time of the events were respectively president of Coopas, which managed the municipal structure, and head of prevention and protection services for the same cooperative.

Both, as requested by the PM Paolo Piras, were sent to trial for multiple manslaughter and culpable epidemic by the GUP Gian Paolo Piana.

Today the panel, chaired by Giancosimo Mura, with Monia Adami and Sara Pelicci on his side, rejected the objection of the lawyer Agostinangelo Marras, who had constituted himself as civilly responsible for the Municipality, who had requested the exclusion of the Institution from the proceedings.

The next hearing is scheduled for May.
