Salaries and bonus bonuses were paid yesterday for approximately 45 cleaners at Poste Italiane offices in the Province of Nuoro and the Metropolitan City of Sassari.
This was announced by Fisascat Cisl-Sassari, represented by its secretary, Pierfranco Piredda, who, together with the secretary of Nuoro, Giovanni Ganga, had reported that the workers had found themselves without economic income right in the middle of the holidays.
"Even at the instigation of our union," Piredda states, "the salaries were paid. But the problem has been going on for two years and is now chronic."
The workers in Sassari and Nuoro, CISL explains, are employed by an external company that works under contract for Poste Italiane. No explanation was given for the non-arrival of their wages, creating discontent and concern, especially since the wages are modest, €200 a month, and, Fisascat reports, "some depend exclusively on that income, and in previous months payments had already been delayed or incomplete."
The problem, as noted, has persisted since 2023, and along with the money, the complaint is also about "poor operating conditions, with a lack of materials (detergents, cleaning equipment, even basic toilet paper), compromising the hygiene of the post offices themselves. Furthermore, the lack of company-identifying gowns and mandatory safety shoes is being complained about."
"The affair," conclude Fisascat Cisl Sassari and Nuoro, "rekindles attention on the critical issues in the procurement system, where payment delays often fall on the weakest links in the chain, leaving workers without certainty and without concrete protection."
