A specialist from the Department of Pediatric Surgery of the Aou of Sassari has been sent for trial for the death of little Mattia Cabras, who died at the age of three months due to peritonitis . The events occurred on October 31, 2021. The decision was made by the preliminary hearing judge of the Court of Sassari, Giuseppe Grotteria. The requests of the prosecutor and the lawyer of the child's family, Daniela Ungaro, were accepted.

The story of little Mattia Cabras (from Arzachena) is described in the indictment. The child arrives at the hospital in Sassari on October 31, 2021, according to the prosecutor his conditions required an urgent intervention "to identify and remove an intestinal obstruction".

According to the prosecutor, the operation was not carried out promptly, the peritonitis caused the "hypovolemic shock" and therefore the death of the child. The trial will begin on April 4, the specialist is defended by lawyers Nicola Satta and Danilo Mattana.
