Two people from Sassari were stopped by the Flying Squad as they were held responsible for two armed robberies which took place during the night between Monday and yesterday against a street trader and a person engaged in prostitution.
The two, in via Porto Torres, had approached a man who was standing on the side of the road. They lured him to a secluded area and, under the threat of a knife to his throat, forced him to hand over his bag.
Shortly after, they carried out the second robbery in the same way. This time the manager of a sandwich kiosk in Piazza Santa Maria ended up in the crosshairs, where they took away the evening's takings.
The two alleged criminals were identified and during the searches the large knife and some of the objects stolen from the first victim were recovered.
The detainees were taken to the Bancali prison to await validation.
