State police are responding in Sassari to restore water to an eighty-two-year-old woman who was without it. It happened yesterday when temperatures soared to 40°C (104°F), and the elderly woman found herself without water due to a faulty autoclave.

The woman, who lives alone and cannot rely on family or friends for help, called 112 to report her situation and explain that she needed to see a doctor, but was unable to take care of her personal hygiene because the taps were not coming out. She then asked for help to manually retrieve water from the submersible pump . Given the woman's condition, the extreme heat, and the real risk that remaining without water could further compromise her health, the patrol officers immediately arrived at her home.

After opening the well access hatch, the workers identified the cause of the malfunction, which was traced to the electrical cable connected to the system's float switch. Thanks to their intervention, they were able to restart the system, allowing water to flow through the home's pipes again.

The officers then recovered several basins and a plastic bin from the well, collecting more water, transporting it to the restroom, and leaving a sufficient supply for the following days. The elderly woman expressed her gratitude to the State Police officers for their helpfulness, professionalism, and sensitivity.
