" Water has filled the Nurra reservoirs , but farm coffers remain empty ," reports the Agricultural Studies Center in Sassari and its vice president, Stefano Ruggiu. "While the situation with the reservoirs is improving , we are witnessing a deafening silence from the Department of Agriculture on the crucial issue of compensation ," Ruggiu maintains.

The choice for farmers, according to the Center's vice president, is " either further debt or giving up production . After a disastrous 2025 with no income, companies have still not received the promised compensation. To date, the Councilor has not yet provided the Laore Agency with the necessary guidelines to unlock the payments that would allow the new agricultural year to begin."

Ruggiu laments a lack of political incisiveness toward the instrumental bodies: "Not only is there silence regarding the 2025 drought funds, but we're also seeing unacceptable delays on previous applications ." Funds related to the "Ukraine Decree," which many farmers are awaiting, are also said to be frozen.

"The situation is paradoxical for companies that had irregular contributions: the funds that were supposed to be paid to INPS have stopped, and the companies haven't seen a cent," concludes Stefano Ruggiu. " Having water in the fields is of little use if there's no liquidity to work them ."
