The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated in Sassari's Cathedral. The Catholic Church's solemnity comes to the capital of Sassari just hours after the vow to the Sleeping Virgin was made in the square outside the Church of Santa Maria di Betlem.
The Faradda concludes with the arrival of the 13 Guilds and their respective Candelieri in front of the sacred building after the Descent through the historic center. This is the moment the city has awaited for a year to pray to the Madonna to protect Sassari from calamities.
After the Mass, celebrated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Sassari, Monsignor Francesco Antonio Soddu, the procession of the Marian statue began , led in turn by all the associations, starting from Via Turritana, Via Brigata Sassari, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, continuing along Via Pais and Piazza Mazzotti to finally return to the Cathedral of San Nicola.
