A summary trial was granted, subject to the hearing of three witnesses, today in court in Sassari by the judge for preliminary hearings, for the teacher accused of mistreating two 4-year-old students.

According to the charges, the 60-year-old allegedly hit the children on the head on several occasions last May in a city institution, either by spanking and slapping them, or by grabbing and pulling their ears.

On another occasion, the charges state, he allegedly lifted one of the children, who had fallen to the floor, making him sit down "by slamming him into the chair".

The prosecutor's office alleges that the teacher had imposed "an oppressive and abusive lifestyle" on the two children on several occasions. The witnesses who will be heard are former colleagues of the accused.

The woman is represented by Marco Palmieri, a lawyer, while the civil party is represented by Stefano Porcu.
