A cat was kidnapped and caged in Sassari, unable to even stand up. Local police discovered it on a farm in the countryside.

The checks led to the discovery of a feline trapped in a cage that prevented it from standing up. Near this animal, officers later discovered the carcass of another cat. The owner of the estate defended himself by claiming that the animals damage the land, which is why he captures them and releases them later. However, there have been several reports of cats disappearing in the previous days and never seen again.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Police charged the man with the crime set forth in Article 727, paragraph 2, of the Criminal Code, which punishes anyone who keeps animals in conditions incompatible with their nature and causing serious suffering with imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of €1,000 to €10,000.

This is a consequence of the condition in which the cat was discovered, which was in a cage used by poachers to capture wild animals.

The animal was freed, the cage seized, and the landowner reported. Officers will continue to check the area to ensure there is no evidence of mistreatment or disappearance of other cats.
