The hunt is underway for a hit-and-run driver in Sassari . According to an initial reconstruction of events, the two little girls were crossing the street at a pedestrian crossing with their mother . Ahead, a convoy of cars had stopped to allow pedestrians to cross, but the driver swerved into the fast lane and sped past them, eventually hitting the girls . He stopped for a moment, then fled and disappeared.
Luckily, the girls did not suffer serious injuries , but were taken to the Santissima Annunziata emergency room by 118 ambulances.
The local police intervened on site to carry out investigations, and are trying to trace the hit-and-run driver.
