An accident occurred this afternoon on Provincial Road 93 in Sassari, near La Corte, in the Campu Calvaggiu area.
A waste collection truck overturned after traveling about 100 meters off the roadway and crashing into a wall and trees, seriously injuring the driver. Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated the man from the vehicle.
Then the intervention 118 took charge of the man, who was still alert and conscious, and then transported him in red code by helicopter to the Santissima Annunziata hospital.
The rescue operations were particularly difficult due to the position of the heavy vehicle and the vegetation, which forced the 115 operators to create a passage using chainsaws.
