21,500 calls for assistance in one year in Sassari. This is one of the findings of the 2025 local police report, presented this morning at the headquarters on Via Carlo Felice by Mayor Giuseppe Mascia and Municipal Police Commander Gianni Serra. The statistics show a reduction in road accidents, down to 1,325, along with fatal incidents, down from six to four. However, the number of pedestrians involved increased from 79 to 82.
The streets of Predda Niedda (95) and Viale Porto Torres (40) were confirmed as those most affected by accidents, with a significant number on Viale Umberto (22). Events which, as always, occurred mostly in good weather (79.02%).
Checks in public places have increased by 200% (585 last year), with 43 fines issued for scooter offenses. 805 fines were issued for illegal parking in spaces reserved for disabled people, 1,007 for parking at pedestrian crossings, and 1,332 for parking on sidewalks.
Monitoring in the historic center is important, with 1,109 homes and businesses inspected in San Donato. The local police's broad range of duties also includes environmental inspections, 4,896 in 2025, with 42 reported crimes. 117 fines were issued for violations of commercial regulations, an increase of almost 54%.
Remaining in the Sassari Vecchia area, the number of officers at the Corso Vittorio Emanuele garrison increased, having intervened 15,500 times last year.
"We have committed significant resources to the local police force," the mayor stated, "and the results have been achieved. We will nevertheless strive to improve. We are not alone, and we can achieve success thanks to everyone's collaboration."
Commander Serra, in addition to reporting on the data, recalled the recent commitment to the success of the New Year's concert, where 79 officers were employed to ensure the event's security.
