A day of potential disruption for families and businesses in Sarroch. On Tuesday, October 20th, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., water will be shut off in the town center to allow Abbanoa to connect the new pipelines installed at the entrance to the town, along State Road 125.

The project involves a roughly half-kilometer stretch of aqueduct, with 350-millimeter diameter pipes, replaced as part of the water network efficiency improvement program. The operator's technicians, together with the contractor, will connect the new pipes, an operation that requires emptying the pipes.

The project is part of a €27 million investment plan for several Sardinian towns, financed through the Development and Cohesion Fund (DFC), with the aim of improving service and reducing losses.

The Sarroch water network extends for approximately 27 kilometers and is characterized by significant elevation differences, with a difference in elevation of approximately 120 meters between the municipal reservoir and the lowest point served. This configuration causes significant pressure variations and contributes to the system's critical issues.

Over the years, Abbanoa has launched a program to replace the pipes most prone to breakage, replacing several plastic and fiber cement pipes with new ductile iron pipes. The current project aims to continue the work of improving water and energy efficiency.

Sarroch is also among the first thirty Sardinian municipalities involved in the "Intelligent Networks" project, which uses advanced technological systems to monitor the functioning of aqueducts, identify critical issues, and reduce water loss.
