Sardinian talents in the world: stories of those who leave but remain tied to Sardinia
Celebrated 17 men and women who found success away from the Island, without ever breaking the bondSardinia, a land of departures and deep roots, tells its story through the lives of those who have taken their professionalism far away, but left their heart on the Island. The Decalogue of Sardinian talents abroad, in its second edition, celebrates 17 stories of men and women who have found success far from their homeland, without ever breaking the bond with it. The project, promoted by the Fernando Santi Institute with the support of the Fondazione di Sardegna and the regional Department of Labor, is a dialogue that unites past and present to imagine a shared future.
Among the protagonists: Lulay Melis, a young woman originally from Asuni and living in Switzerland; Tiziana Corda, an academic in Berlin; Michela Venturi, a manager in Denmark; and Genri Fais, a trade unionist in Switzerland . "In Switzerland we feel at home thanks to the Sardinian clubs, but as soon as I can I will return to the island. If the right opportunities arise, I could also return," says Fais.
The project collects ideas and proposals to enhance Sardinia in a global dimension . «Sardinia is not just a physical place: having your head here is more important than having your feet in its land», explains Giuseppe Corongiu, project manager.
The initiative is also a starting point for reflecting on the future of the Island. How to retain talent? How to enhance the skills of those who leave? Open questions, which the Decalogue intends to address by transforming departures into an opportunity for growth. Because, wherever they are, Sardinians continue to be united by an indissoluble bond with their land .
