Sardinia's response to the phytosanitary emergency of the cork oak forests: this was the theme of the conference held in Calangianus and strongly desired by the mayor Fabio Albieri.

The relevance of the issues, and of the alarm, was confirmed by the presence of the top management of the Region (the works were concluded by the president Alessandra Todde) and of all the most important branches of the regional administration (Forestas, Agris and the Forestry Corps).

The speakers (including some specialists from the University of Sassari) outlined a worrying picture of climate change.

The attack is twofold: in addition to insects, the new serious threat is that of Phytophthora , a plant parasite that is also causing significant damage to holm oaks.

The Forestry Corps has activated a monitoring network with 290 control points throughout the island.
