Sardinian doctors are the lowest paid in Italy: the average gross salary is 74,672 euros, compared to the national average of nearly 90,000.

A negative record that the Cimo union has called "unacceptable." Other unions are also calling for "urgent" measures to restore balance, threatening strikes.

Meanwhile, still on the subject of healthcare, protests are mounting from the mayors of the municipalities of Sarrabus and Gerrei, who denounce the shortage of pediatricians: the only remaining professional is one step away from retirement.
