"Just a power play that benefits a few and penalizes the Sardinians."

This is the key point that prompted seven applicants to bring the airport merger to Sergio Mattarella's table, a deal to be finalized with the privatization of Cagliari's Mameli airport, the only one remaining in public hands and ready to be handed over to F2i Ligantia, the investment fund that already controls the Olbia and Alghero airports.

The appellants also targeted the Region: "It is moving forward despite the opposition of the Court of Auditors."
