Turnout in Sardinia's municipal elections is rising. Polls closed at 3:00 PM , and the final voter turnout stood at 61.64%, up two percentage points from the previous election, when 59.60% of eligible voters cast their ballots.

Sulcis Iglesiente is the province with the highest number of voters with 70.25%, followed by Nuoro (69.87%), Gallura (69.09%), Ogliastra (66.96%), Sassari (66%), Oristano (64.9%), Medio Campidano (61.43%) and finally the province of Cagliari where 54.35% went to the polls.

Among cities with more than 15,000 inhabitants, turnout in Quartu was 48.29%, down from the previous 49.76%. There was a sharp increase in Sestu , where the turnout was 50.59%, compared to the previous 41.62%. Voter turnout also increased in Porto Torres (62.58%), compared to 57.62% in the previous election.

In Tempio , the only provincial capital to renew its municipal council, the turnout was 68.08%, an increase compared to the 57.14% of the previous elections.

Guamaggiore , with just over 800 inhabitants in Trexenta, is the Sardinian municipality with the highest number of voters ( 86.89% ), followed by Viddalba (86.33%), Aggius (85.30%), Buddusò (84.79%).

The list of centers that have exceeded eighty percent also includes Tergu (84.32%), Musei (83.37%), Allai (82.37%), Curcuris (81.23%), Sennariolo (81.06%), Baressa (80.85%), Urzulei (80.68%), Montresta (80.05%), Noragugume (80.30%)

Instead, beyond Quartu, one in two voters boycotted the polls in Serdiana (48.67%) and Ittiri (47.67%), where the threshold of half of those entitled to vote was not reached.
