Sardinia returns to the spotlight at "Do the Right Thing!", the leading national fair dedicated to responsible tourism, walking, and sustainable lifestyles, taking place from March 13th to 15th at Rho Fiera Milano. Within the Fiera dei Grandi Cammini, the Region's space will be a meeting place and a hub dedicated to the most authentic aspects of the island, featuring experiences, workshops, and opportunities to discuss new models of slow travel.
Sardinia's story will be told through its trails, villages, and UNESCO-recognized sites, including the Domus de Janas, which became Italy's 61st World Heritage Site in July 2025. Alongside its archaeological and landscape heritage, ample space will also be dedicated to artisanal traditions and food and wine, central elements of the island's cultural identity.
The highlight of the Sardinian presence at the fair will be the conference "We walk in Sardinia – We walk in Sardinia 2026: come and discover Sardinia at a slow pace," scheduled for Saturday from 12 to 1 pm in Piazza Grandi Cammini. Organized in collaboration with Terre di Mezzo Editore, the conference will feature Franco Cuccureddu, Regional Councilor for Tourism, Crafts, and Trade, and will be an opportunity to present the latest developments in the initiative dedicated to promoting the island's hiking trails and itineraries. The conference will conclude with the evocative harmonies of the canto a tenore, an ancient expression of Sardinian musical tradition recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Accessibility will also be a key focus. On Saturday afternoon, at 3:00 PM, the Regional Government stand will host a meeting entitled "Sardinia, the welcoming island: starting from the sea." This will be a forum for institutions and non-profit organizations to discuss inclusive tourism, with the aim of making beaches, trails, and inland areas increasingly accessible.
Over the three days, the stand will host meetings with guides, hikers, tour operators, and associations, who will share spiritual itineraries and new travel experiences. Alongside these opportunities for discussion, the "Voices and Flavors of Sardinia" program will feature events dedicated to the island's gastronomic culture: from traditional pasta making to the use of wild Mediterranean herbs, to contemporary reinterpretations of Sardinian cuisine.
The regional space will also feature a sustainable design, created with a focus on the recovery and reuse of materials. Among the experiences offered is a sensory tunnel that will allow visitors to discover Sardinia through touch and smell: from wool to cork, from pasta to basalt, accompanied by the scents of myrtle and Mediterranean herbs.
With its presence at the Milan fair, Sardinia strengthens the narrative of an island that looks to the future of tourism, starting from its deepest values: sustainability, authenticity, inclusion, and the pleasure of discovering the region at a leisurely pace.
