" If the rain doesn't arrive, the first sacrifice will be made by the farmers , but the problem affects all citizens: even the springs that provide drinking water are running dry . If this continues, restrictions in the fields could lead to restrictions in homes. We truly hope that rain in the next few days will erase these grim forecasts." These are the words of Gianluigi Loru, mayor of Perdaxius, a member of Coldiretti, and for a few weeks a Provincial Councilor with responsibility for Agriculture, who expresses all the concern that is currently being felt in Sulcis Iglesiente.

The situation in the Monte Pranu reservoir (Tratalias), which feeds the Sulcis fields, is in critical condition, with water levels falling below 11 million cubic meters. This situation is as worrying as the situation in Northern Sardinia , which has already been struggling with water restrictions since October. The Bidighinzu reservoir is a mudflat , and attempts are being made to pump out the little water remaining from the Temo and Cuga reservoirs . The rationing plan has forced the mayors of ten towns linked to the Temo-Bidighinzu dams—Sorso, Sennori, Ittiri, Ossi, Thiesi, Tissi, Usini, Uri, Ploaghe, Bonorva, Macomer, and Bosa—to issue an ordinance to implement measures to conserve drinking water for domestic use and to monitor the efficiency of the systems to avoid leaks, especially during long periods of non-use.
