Important innovations in the field of community hospitals - the link between territorial-home care and hospital care - in Sardinia. On the island there are 13 that will be realized with the Pnrr programming: "32.7 million euros in addition to a further 7.5 million co-financed by the Region, for a total of over 40.2 million euros declined in the investment program approved by the regional council - explains the president Christian Solinas -: about 11.4 million euros to ASL 1, for four principals (two in Sassari and one respectively in Ploaghe and Ozieri); 3.8 million to ASL 2 for two offices (in La Maddalena and Tempio Pausania); 8.2 million to ASL 3 for two facilities (in Nuoro and Sorgono); 3.6 million to ASL 5 (for Ghilarza and Bosa); 3.4 million to ASL 7 for a garrison (in Iglesias, Santa Barbara); 9.8 million to ASL 8, for two offices (in Cagliari) ".

"For Health - adds the governor - we have approved a plan worth over 270 million euros to which we have added a further 21.6 million regional resources. The Pnrr represents an important opportunity for our Island and we will use every available resource to give the Sardinians a modern healthcare, capable of responding to the needs and challenges we face ".

The services of the community hospital are directed to the management of patients with low intensity of care but in need of ongoing care. "We are talking about patients discharged from specialist wards who need control or people suffering from chronic diseases, whose management of the disease can avoid resorting to hospitalization", declares the regional health councilor, Mario Nieddu, who in relation to the new intermediate structures underlines: "They will integrate the functions of the facilities in which they will arise and will not involve the modification of the services already present. We are therefore talking about a relaunch and strengthening for the principals who will host the community hospital. This is a great opportunity for our health system, but it should be noted that the provisions of the NRP do not exhaust the range of interventions and structures envisaged throughout the territory for the implementation of the new health model ".
