The fire service in the municipal area of Santu Lussurgiu is strengthened with new infrastructures to guarantee emergency response this summer. A new 30 thousand liter water tank has been installed near the Zagadennaghe water intake, on the outskirts of the town.
It is the Forestry Corps that has made this artificial basin available, essential for guaranteeing the water supply to firefighting vehicles , both helicopters and tankers on the ground in case of emergencies. The installation and assembly works of the fire tank were carried out by the Municipality and the Forestas Agency, while the local Civil Protection section of Santu Lussurgiu collaborated to arrange the area.
Concrete actions to prevent any fires in the bud and avoid other tragedies like that of three years ago: «These are important and strategic measures in the area, which strengthen the regional water supply network for the supply of firefighting vehicles. After the great fire of 2021 it became necessary to restore the network of deposits, every year we try to place new tanks near springs to be continuously fed", specifies Maria Gabriella Cuccu, commissioner of the Oristano Forestry Corps , responsible for the fire prevention structure.
