The Coast Guard announced that the damage that hit the “Moby Bastia” ferry yesterday, which left Santa Teresa Gallura and headed for Bonifacio, has been resolved.
The problem had forced the boat to interrupt navigation to Corsica and return to the port, where the passengers were disembarked and received assistance from the Moby Lines shipping company.
"The Military Personnel of the Coast Guard of La Maddalena and Santa Teresa Gallura - explains a note from the Capitaneria - assisted the command on board and promptly initiated the necessary investigations to establish the dynamics of the events and ascertain the causes and possible responsibilities of what happened ".
"From the inspections and checks that were carried out this morning, some lengths of rope were found in the ship's propellers, resulting in the most likely cause of the damage", continues the note from the Coast Guard.
“Therefore the necessary maintenance interventions were arranged and the Naval Technical Body carried out the necessary checks and finally proceeded to confirm the class certification.
The above allowed the Maritime Authority of La Maddalena to authorize the return to service of the ship: at 11 am on November 15th, once the damage was resolved, the "Moby Bastia" left Santa Teresa Gallura for Bonifacio, restoring the maritime connection between Italy and Corsica ”, concludes the Capitaneria.
