New landing of migrants in Sulcis . During the night the Operations Center of the Carabinieri reported the presence of a group of people who had just landed along the coast of Maladroxia, in the territory of Sant'Antioco.

The military intervened promptly and then assisted eight adult men, who declared to be of Algerian nationality . All appeared to be in good health; one of them, complaining of a slight malaise, was accompanied as a precaution to the “Sirai” hospital in Carbonia, where he was examined and then held for tests.

The vessel used for the crossing was not found despite immediate searches along the coast.

Once the identification procedures and formalities were completed, the migrants were transferred to the First Reception Centre in Monastir.

Further investigations are underway to reconstruct the landing modalities and identify any accomplices involved in aiding illegal immigration.
