A check stemming from a domestic dispute turned into a drug bust. Last night, the Carabinieri of Sant'Antioco, with the support of their colleagues in San Giovanni Suergiu, arrested a 60-year-old unemployed man, a resident of the town and already known to law enforcement, on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

According to the reconstruction, the soldiers intervened in a house after a call for help for a heated family argument.

Once calm was restored and no one had been injured, the police noticed some signs that suggested illegal activity was taking place inside the house.

The subsequent personal and home search led to the discovery of approximately 18 grams of cocaine and €1,025 in cash, a sum that investigators believe may have come from drug dealing.

During the operation, a 59-year-old pensioner, also a resident of Sant'Antioco and already known to law enforcement, was also reported at large for being in the home and in possession of 3.4 grams of the same substance.

After the usual formalities, the sixty-year-old was taken to the holding cells at the Carbonia barracks, awaiting the validation hearing with a fast-track procedure before the Cagliari Court.
