A 60-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were arrested last night by the Carabinieri of Sant'Antioco on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The couple, residents of the town, were caught red-handed during a search carried out following an investigative activity that lasted several weeks .
According to what has been learned, the investigation began from an informal tip collected during routine checks carried out by the military.
Investigators were aroused by some movements deemed anomalous and a series of reports collected during informal conversations with residents.
Their detailed knowledge of the area allowed the Carabinieri to piece together clues and outline the two men's possible involvement in a well-structured drug dealing operation.
The raid began at 9:40 PM. Officers from Sant'Antioco, supported by their colleagues from Narcao and San Giovanni Suergiu, conducted a personal and home search, seizing approximately 49 grams of cocaine, divided into multiple packages, 4.8 grams of marijuana, two precision scales, packaging materials, and €1,535 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The sixty-year-old—a widowed bricklayer already known to law enforcement—and his partner were taken to the holding cells of the Carbonia Carabinieri station, pending a validation hearing scheduled for this morning before the Cagliari Court.
