The ancient gates of San Vito on a map. This is the municipal administration's latest tourism initiative.
On the map – which will then be distributed at key locations in the town – visitors will find a photographic collection of the ancient wooden gates (only those with granite arches) and directions to reach them.
"It will be," Mayor Marco Antonio Siddi explained, "a further tool for culturally enhancing the historic center." In the heart of the town, there are numerous ancient wooden gates, "gates," as the resolution approved by the City Council states, "that are widespread throughout the urban fabric and have a strong identity and cultural value."
Among the many initiatives undertaken in this direction is the waterway, a trail through the ancient wells and fountains, also characteristic of the town. Now, the new trail, "of the ancient San Vito gates," is underway. Both, as the municipal administration aims, should help attract new visitors to one of the most charming historic centers in the entire Sarrabus area.
