“My name is Liliana, I'm 24 years old and I write with great difficulty but also with the hope that someone can lend us a hand.”

Liliana Galdi's heartfelt request in a letter addressed to Sardinians, to anyone who can offer assistance.

An appeal to the generosity of her fellow countrymen. The situation is very critical, and the young woman describes it thus: "My mother, my 14-year-old brother, and I are at risk of losing our home in San Vito, which will be auctioned on February 25th. This situation stems from debts left by my father years ago, debts my mother was unaware of, and which have overwhelmed us over time, leaving us with no real way to defend ourselves."

Efforts and sacrifices

Liliana admits that "for a long time we were ashamed and afraid to ask for help. Only by reading other stories similar to ours, of families who found support thanks to the solidarity of strangers, did we find the courage to take this step and share our own situation." She adds that "despite the efforts and sacrifices made over the years, the financial and bureaucratic burden was too great. We searched for solutions, asked for help, and tried in every way to get back on our feet, but we found ourselves alone facing a situation bigger than ourselves and with a very tight timeframe." In the house there are loved ones, relationships, connections, a whole life and the future of a 14-year-old boy to safeguard: "That house is all we have, it's the only safe place for my little brother, it's the stability and dignity of my mother, it's the only thing that keeps us from being homeless."

Fundraising

A fundraiser has been launched on the Gofundme platform. "This way," explains Liliana, "we're asking for concrete help to cover the urgent expenses needed to stop the auction and try to save our home. Every donation, no matter how small, means time, hope, and the chance to avoid losing everything." The goal is to reach €57,000. The fundraising has surpassed €40,000 with over 1,300 donors. It's a race against time. The momentum must not stop.
