The cultural and musical festival “The sounds of the wind and the sea”, organised by the Euterpe Labala cultural association, kicks off on Monday 15 June in the church of San Teodoro in Piazza Gallura .
Two evenings dedicated to singer-songwriter music, literature, and the performing arts, featuring leading regional and national artists.
The event opens on Monday, June 15th at 9:00 PM with “Mi trovi ai Navigli… e ovunque,” a powerful poetic and musical tribute to Alda Merini.
The show, written and directed by Leonardo Onida, will feature the author himself as narrator, accompanied by musicians Mauro Mibelli on guitar and Giovanni Sanna Passino on trumpet and flugelhorn. An emotional journey through words, images, and evocative sounds to rediscover the figure and work of the great Milanese poet.
At 10 pm, the evening will continue with "One Man Band," a concert by Francesco Piu, one of Italy's most respected bluesmen. The Sardinian artist, a long-time star of international tours and festivals, will open for Ben Harper at the Cagliari Fair.
On Tuesday, June 16, the mini festival concludes with an evening packed with events that will take the audience on a journey through stories, sounds, and instruments from diverse musical traditions.
It begins at 9 pm with "Music is born where it should be born. Stories of music and books," a recital by author, composer, and musician Reno Brandoni. This performance-cum-conference blends storytelling, music, and literature, offering a unique perspective on the relationship between writing and musical creativity.
Following this, there will be space for “A journey around the world in 80 instruments” , the travelling musical and performance project by multi-instrumentalist Nicola Agus, who will accompany spectators on a discovery of instruments from five continents, recounting their origins, characteristics and curiosities through live performances.
The festival will close with a concert by Andrea Valeri , considered one of the most talented acoustic guitarists on the Italian and European scene. The festival's artistic direction is by Mauro Mibelli, with technical direction by Mota.
