27 people were reported during extraordinary checks carried out by the Carabinieri of the Siniscola Company during the August bank holiday in the Nuoro area.
Hundreds of people and vehicles were identified, and over 20 licenses were withdrawn.
On the road safety front, 15 drivers were reported for drunk driving; among those arrested was a driver with a blood pressure reading of 1.47 g/l, caught after uprooting and stealing a road sign on the SS125 in San Teodoro as a souvenir, which was later recovered.
Some drivers were also reported for resisting arrest and insulting officers, for pushing officers and for refusing to identify themselves.
In the fight against drug dealing, a man caught in San Teodoro after selling a dose of hashish to a thirteen-year-old was reported, while five youths were reported to the Prefecture for drug use. Two people were reported for theft, having been found with two valuable bags stolen shortly before from a shop on Via del Tirreno and immediately returned.
Regarding labor protection, inspections conducted in Dorgali by the Carabinieri Labor Inspectorate of Nuoro resulted in two owners being charged with abusive remote monitoring of employees and employing illegal workers, with fines and penalties totaling over €4,700. The inspections will continue throughout the remainder of the summer season.
