In the name of Grazia Deledda. In San Teodoro , to celebrate the writer from Nuoro a hundred years after her Nobel Prize, the project titled "Does Sardinian Cuisine Exist?" was born. The initiative, led by the Pentumas restaurant in Puntaldìa, proposes a series of gastronomical pairing evenings dedicated to cuisine and literature, and will feature chef-philosophers united by their appreciation and respect for Sardinia.
These are not simple gala dinners, but rather true narrative journeys inspired by the book " Grazia Deledda and Food: From Homer to the Present Day" by Giovanni Fancello and Sara Chessa. This is a moment of great significance not only for the legacy of this great writer, the first and only Italian woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1926, but also as a contemporary voice, informed by language and emotion.
"Our project aims to highlight the millennia-old knowledge of Sardinian cuisine through contemporary culinary philosophies and create a profound and meaningful cultural exchange. The very title of the project, "Does Sardinian cuisine exist?", aims to pose a provocative question about the true existence of Sardinian cuisine, which, due to the lack of documentation, has its roots in home cooking, country cooking, and the solemn occasions of celebration," explains Gabriele Piga , executive chef of Pentumas.
"This project isn't content to preserve the past; it aims to project Sardinian cuisine into the future, making it a center of creative experimentation par excellence. It's a challenge," adds Piga, "that aims to educate and shape a conscious and informed consumer, but above all, one capable of recognizing the value of food and sharing the story of Sardinia's history and contemporary culture beyond our island's borders."
The project will kick off on May 7th , for a total of eight events: four in May, one evening in June, two in September and the final act on October 1st.
