Clearly agitated, he entered a tobacco shop in San Teodoro , a few steps from the town's main square, threatening the owner and demanding he hand over the day's takings . The robbery attempt, however, failed thanks to the intervention of several bystanders, who scared the man away, forcing him to flee empty-handed. His escape was short-lived.

On Tuesday, Alfio Quan Annibale Lombardo, 36 years old, originally from Sorso, was tracked down by the Carabinieri of the San Teodoro station, coordinated by the Nuoro Public Prosecutor's Office, in the house where he lived with his sister and was arrested on charges of attempted robbery and ended up in the Badu e Carros prison .

This morning, the man appeared before the preliminary investigations judge of the Nuoro Court, Alessandra Ponti, who validated his arrest and ordered his detention. Lombardo, represented by lawyer Anna Maria Santoru, exercised his right to remain silent during questioning.

Lombardo was already known to the judicial press: in 2010, he was arrested for the murder of Giovanni Andrea Satta, a sixty-year-old from Porto Torres, and was later sentenced to 17 years in prison . According to the prosecution, on the night of April 21, 2009, again under the influence of alcohol, he had playfully pushed the man, a disabled man in a wheelchair, down an unprotected ramp in a shopping center. The man died several weeks later from his injuries.
